About the project

The Challenge

The dispensary had stalled because it had no maternity equipment. It was not functioning despite it being the only maternity unit in Kinyona location. Women sought for serves in Kigumo or Maragua.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation, through the Ndoto Zetu initiative, donated maternity equipment worth KES 450 000. This equipment includes a delivery bed, 3 patient beds, a baby cot, an oxygen cylinder, a wheelchair and a heater.

The Impact

Service delivery at the hospital has improved as maternal care is being provided with the equipment needed in place. Patients in the community have renewed faith in the health facility which has given medical workers morale.
