About the project

The Challenge

The school lacked a functioning kitchen and dining hall. Pupils ate in their dormitories which was unhygienic. The kitchen was in the open which presented challenges to the cooks when it rained, this also delayed serving of meals. The pupils lacked a source of entertainment to enable them recreate during their leisure time.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation, through the regional kitty, donated five tables, 60 chairs, a cooker and a TV set worth KES 1.6 million.

The Impact

The dining hall equipment has enabled the pupils to be organized during meal times. The cooker has made meal preparation better and safer while the TV set has given the pupils an acceptable way of relaxing through entertainment.
