#EconomicEmpowerment

About the project

The Challenge

The members had problems in identifying a reliable economic activity that would sustain the teenage mothers when they become of age. Covid-19 had also suppressed their monthly contributions for the table banking as some members were rendered jobless. The group also lacked necessary equipment to train the youths.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation’s Ndoto Zetu initiative equipped the group with sewing machines and salon equipment worth KES 100,000. They include 2 sewing machines, 2 dryers, 2 blow-dryers and hair products.

The Impact

The items will assist the women in achieving their dream of learning how to design products to meet clients’ needs. The youths and young mothers will gain income that will help sustain them as well as their families and also be able to contribute money for table banking.
