About the project
Maternal health statistics according to the Kenya Demographic and Health survey showed that Murang’a County had 42 deaths of women per 1,000 live births. One of the reasons was the lack of infrastructure to address maternal care. This dispensary was unable to provide antenatal care. The lack of monitoring led to complications among pregnant women who were unaddressed.
Safaricom Foundation constructed an immunization and antenatal care room at a cost of KES 1 million.
Pregnant women are being monitored before they give birth leading to a reduction in complications. The room has given the doctors at the dispensary the ability to check on the progress of pregnant women and avoid or address any problems that may occur.
