About the project

The Challenge

The school had set up a special unit for pupils with disability but lacked amenities to sustain the pupil population. The number of toilets in particular could not accommodate the high population causing congestion in the washrooms consequently compromising the level of sanitation. Additionally, pupils with walking aids or wheelchairs were unable to access classes as there were no ramps put in place.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation supported the school with the construction of toilets and access ramps at a cost KES 1 Million.

The Impact

social amenities in the school. There is a conducive learning environment that motivates both teachers and pupils to improve the performance. With the new facelift, it is also expected that more pupils with disability will be able to enroll into the school to access education.
