About the project

The Challenge

Students and teachers pursued learning in mud walled classrooms that would occasionally cave in and collapse. Pupils utilized much of the school time looking for cow dung to seal cracks on the walls to manage the situation. Additionally, the environment exposed the school community to jiggers which hid in the dust floor of the classroom.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation through the Pamoja Scheme handed over a classroom and 25 desks and chairs at a cost KES 803,000.

The Impact

The classroom is now stable with no risk of collapsing while the floor is modern hence low risks of jiggers infestation. Moreover, students are learning in an elegant environment hence stimulating their concentration and participation in class.
