About the project

The Challenge

Statistics by a Kenya Demographic and Health Survey showed that infant mortality is significantly high with Baringo County losing 31 infants for every 1,000 born. The lack of facilities was worsening the situation.

The Intervention

Safaricom Foundation constructed a newborn unit and dug a borehole at a cost of KES 7.3 million.

The Impact

Infants suffering from health complications are accessing quality health services at the newborn unit.
