About the project

The Challenge

The Lavington Primary School swimming pool was in need of repairs. It is a site for more than 2,000 children to swim.

The Intervention

Thousands of young Kenyan swimmers will now be able to develop their potential thanks to the refurbishment of the swimming pool at Lavington Primary School in Nairobi. In partnership with the School and the Aqua Kenya Swimming Club, the Foundation has funded KShs 1.9 million worth of renovations, which included replacing the pool pump, refitting the changing areas, repairing the deck and retiling the pool itself.

The Impact

Since the renovations, Aqua Kenya Swimming Club has been able to support 10 community schools and provide approximately 2,500 children with access to the facilities, including a club for disabled swimmers.
