#EconomicEmpowerment

About the project

The Challenge

The COVID-19 pandemic had reduced economic outcomes for vulnerable families across the country. This made the access to basic needs such as food an uphill task for families whose breadwinners had lost their incomes due to the pandemic.

The Intervention

Safaricom employees came together to contribute KES 2 million while Safaricom Foundation also raised a similar amount to support vulnerable families. The food donations went to support 1, 300 families in Korogocho and 1,200 families in Naivasha, Kitengela, Mombasa, Thika and Bungoma. The support will be a one month supply of foodstuff.

The Impact

The 2, 500 families have enough food to eat as a result of the donations.
