Education

The Kenya government’s introduction of free primary education in 2003 was a welcome idea to many poor families who could not afford to take their children to school for basic learning.

This created an increase in enrolment without physical structures to accommodate new pupils. It also meant that there were more students qualifying to join secondary schools. The Foundation seeks to support the achievement for education for all by equipping educational institutions.

Due to the emergence of other sources of funding like the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), the Foundation has in recent years focused its support towards schools providing learning opportunities for children with special needs.

The Foundation aims to contribute towards reducing illiteracy by supporting the enrolment and retention of children in schools, especially children with disabilities. These efforts contribute towards the Millennium Development Goal of increasing access to education at the primary level by 2015.
