Northern Rangelands Trust
The NRT team comprising Susan Mueni, Adam Nyaga, Chris Oduor Otieno and Tony Kisaka left an indelible mark behind. Their efforts to streamline operations within NRT didn't disappoint.
M-PESA Pay Bill Service
Susan worked to enhance efficiency in the enterprise department. Notable was the use of M-PESA Pay Bill service for loan repayments by NRT's credit beneficiaries who are mainly women. She consulted with various training institutions and documented the training needs and a working budget for the enterprise. Susan also trained the drivers on Customer Service, First Aid and Emergency Response.
IT Infrastructure
IT was Adam's main focus. He established a staff e-mail system and document sharing website, upgraded the IT systems and rolled out IT infrastructure for the construction of their new head office. Adam also reviewed the finance operations manual of NRT and automated the business operations of NRT Enterprise and Products programme.
First Aid and Fire Safety Training
Chris launched a pilot fleet management system designed to streamline fleet usage and monitor drivers' performance while reducing daily running costs. He also helped to organise First Aid and Fire Safety training by the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS). Chris' other remarkable contribution was the review of the proposed HR and Finance manuals. He revised the documents to conform to the current NRT organisational requirements.
Hard Bargain

He was also involved in the livestock programme which seeks to promote the welfare of the pastoralist community. Tony developed a staff handbook and formulated policies for NRT to improve its operations. He also helped the organisation formalize its micro-financing unit which is currently serving four hundred members with a revolving fund of KSh1.2 million.
